This gas fireplace wool arrived in a vacuum sealed package and I used in the gas fireplace to replace and refurbish the original 20 year old materials. It worked superbly and gave the fire place a very natural look with glowing and burning embers at the base of the logs. It was inexpensive and easy to place and after two evenings thus far the wool has not disappeared or burnt away; and there has been no smoke, ash or odor. I would say functional, cost effective and easy to use - sound perfect to me. I would buy it again and I do recommend it if you are looking for a product that will enhance the look of a gas fireplace..8

Material was vacuum packed and expanded once opened. It was easily placed in the firebox with the included gloves, and the amount will be enough for many years of annual service. Very pleased with the purchase!

My old rock was nasty so I replaced it with new rock wool. It works GREAT. There is plenty rock wool in a vacuum sealed bag. Make the gas logs look realistic and retains heat. Easy to install and you can make the size any size you need. My book said "dime" size.

I ordered this 6oz bag of AmericanGasLogs Rock Wool as replacement for a 20 year old gas log fireplace and its red/orange ambers facsimile. I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality and low price. It looks like real burning ambers and the quantity was much more than expected. Thank you AmericanGasLogs for such a great value and bargain.

After cleaning the fireplace, removing the old lava rocks. the vermiculite and the "wood" logs, I put new lava rock in place, added the Rock Wool near the burners, replaced the logs, and turned on the gas. After a few minor adjustments of the rock wool, I had a fire so realistic we left it on until bedtime even though the house was at 70 degrees with the A/C running (we live in Savannah GA). A stunning display from a product so simple and easy to install. It brought visual warmth from the fireplace.

I just refreshed our 26 gas fireplace and bought this rock wool as part of the project, and I'm super happy with the results. The rock wool looks much nicer than I expected - just like real embers. As other reviewers mentioned, the box and bag make the contents look really small, but I didn't even use the whole bag in our full-sized fireplace. I will absolutely recommend this to any friends looking to update their own fireplaces.

The wool comes vacuum sealed in a tiny box along with some gloves for placement, although I just pulled off and placed small pieces of the wool with pliers. Used about 1/10 of the wool, as it doesn 't take much to make the needed coals and I found it best to have the flames going so I could tell how to place it. If it lasts half as long as what I replaced it's a bargain.

The rock wool creates a natural ember look in my ventless gas fire place. I replaced lava rocks with rock wool and it looks so much better. There was no odor.

I'm ashamed to say my house is 29 years old and this is the first time I changed the rock wool in the gas log fireplace. It was time, the old stuff was pretty decomposed. What a difference. At this price, everyone should change out their rock wool periodically, and not every 29 years. Don't let the size of the bag fool you, it's 6 ounces and I used less than half after completely cleaning out the old stuff. Highly recommended.

Package is different than picture on Amazon but it’s the same stuff. Removed the old in my fireplace and replaced it with this. There is way more than needed for multiple fireplaces in this bag! I ordered this because the bottom flame bar in my fireplace was barely lighting up. It looks great now!

The Rock Wool from American gas logs is an excellent product and is priced about 50% cheaper than other vendors for the same 6 oz bag. I am confident that the 6 oz bag will last for years, since it doesn't take much to get the desired effect of glowing embers. The glowing ember effect is perfect and really dresses up the gas fireplace. I used about 1/10th of the bag for my first application. A nice customer service touch is they included 2 plastic food handler gloves so you won't run the risk of getting "splinters" from the rock wool. I would definitely purchase this product again when

Product is very reasonably priced, in relation to other similar products. I spread a portion of the rock wool over the base gas flames and over the lower portions of the logs. You don’t need a lot to give your fireplace a beautiful ember-like glow. Two plastic gloves were even provided, so you didn’t get the product on your skin. I would definitely recommend this company providing this rock wool product!

I am reviewing a number of fireplace products at once, including the product you are viewing right now. I bought a house with a gas fireplace and recently got it working. I learned a lot about various products in the process, and I want to share some of what I learned and also give you my unvarnished reviews of the products I bought. Before you do anything else, however, get your fireplace inspected. You don't want a fire. Ok, with that said, my fireplace is natural gas. To make it look realistic, I bought logs, lava rock, silica sand, and rock wool. I am very pleased with each of my purchases. If you are new to gas fireplaces, here is how you put it all together. Put the sand in the tray, covering the gas pipes. Put the lava rock all around tray to cover the floor of your fireplace. Tear the rock wool in to small pieces (like if you were making stuffing) and spread them out over the sand. Follow the instructions for your log set, but be sure to leave at least 2 inches between all of the logs so the fire can flow easily. If you don't do that, you'll get a lot of soot.

This doesn't take much. But make it look like real embers. Love it. Easy to use. Just put small pieces in front of burner Can easily be moved around until you get the look you want.

Glows nicely, especially on the edges with waves of glow cycling through where you see the glow- so it looks like coals of a fire. This bag is going to last decades!

I refurbished a fireplace for a friend. The original installation was done by the builder. In spite of the obviously expensive gas installation, the look of the fireplace flame and embers was pitiful. After repairing the pilot light, I added about 2/3 of the rock wool to give the gas logs a more natural look. The change was remarkable. "This fireplace has NEVER looked so good" was the owner's comment. I told him that he has enough left over to supply his neighbor if they get jealous of the new look.

Easily added to my Gas fireplace and is a perfect highlite. Used in our 2 fireplaces and I have enough left for next year, even gave some to our neighbor. Helps make your gas fire look very real. iIt looks real with the appearance of the embers, hot coals and the appearance of flames. Will recommend to friends and family and certainly will purchase again

These embers work, look great, and cost less than many other manufacturers. What’s not to like? And they give you a ton of these. I can’t see how one set of logs would use all of these but it’s there if you need it.

Initially I purchased a lighter rock wool that didn’t produce the glow or realism of this product. Very happy with the outcome with this one. I just installed it so I cannot comment on its longevity.

This is generous amount of quality rock wool for the money. It was very easy to set around the burners. And the flames are far more attactive now. Thank you for the value at a low price.
